Emma 1984 is a novelization Roger’s play Emma. Precocious Emma Woodhouse is starting her sophomore year at Highbury High School in 1984. After what she views as a successful match between her counselor, Miss Taylor, and her science teacher, Mr. Weston, last year, Emma has vowed to continue her matchmaking ways this school year. The object of her attention is Irish foreign exchange student, Harriet Smith. Emma is determined to find Harriet dates to the school dances. Hijinks abound in this fresh retelling of Jane Austen’s Emma.
